Scissor Sisters is definitely the band I think of when it comes pure European electro music that isn't so intense it falls into the trance genre, but what's odd about that is the band's New York origin. They've won numerous Brit Awards and continue to maintain a renowned status in the club scene overseas. However, as heavy as our electronica scene in the States may be (particularly NYC), it seems as if we aren't welcoming the Scissor Sisters' mash up styles of disco, glam rock and pop as much as we could.
It's a shame that Americans have not branched out beyond the band's cover of Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb," because they really do have a talent for threading bits and pieces together for a sparkling effect.
As proof, I'd like to share "Invisible Light" with you. The track is the closer on their upcoming album,
Night Work (which has very interesting cover art, might I add) and I enjoy how the dark elements play with the bouncy choruses. It's over six minutes of dance Heaven. Check it out
here.
