Top 50 Songs of 2009: 40 - 31

Well, I hope you had time to listen to all the songs from my Top 50 Songs of 2009 so far with numbers, 50 - 41! Now it's time to move on and get closer to the number one song.

Next up are my favorite songs ranked from 40 - 31. Songs include Peaches, Robotanists, Mirah, A Place To Bury Strangers, and more. Take a look below, listen and download away!

40. Mp3: Peaches - Talk To Me

Peaches released yet another album with a title that is racy and raunchy - I Feel Cream. It wouldn't be Peaches if it weren't dirty. However, what a lot of people may have been surprised by with this album is the fact that she really sings on a lot of the tracks (for example, "Lose You"). "Talk To Me" sounds a bit more like her older tracks but it's still a fun one.

39. Mp3: Robotanists - Wait A Minute Here

Robotanists have been featured on BeatCrave many times and for good reasons too. Lead singer, Sarah Ellquist has a voice that is beautifully mature and the band rounds out their sound with down-tempo music that is actually enticing. Not many bands manage to pull that task off and that's why Robotanists are considered one of the best LA bands in my opinion.

38. Mp3: Mirah - Generosity

Mirah will always be the darling of K Records and I was glad to finally get another solo album from her with the insightful (a)spera. Her sweet vocals upon intricate orchestrations continue to be her signature talent.

37. Mp3: A Place To Bury Strangers - In Your Heart

A Place To Bury Strangers continues to be one of my favorite space rock bands with their second album, Exploding Head. I already stated how this album is even better than their debut full-length in my Top 40 Albums announcement, but this track is exceptionally fantastic.

36. Mp3: Grizzly Bear - Two Weeks

Along with "Southern Point," this track set the mood for Grizzly Bear's Veckatamist. Although not as accessible to most people due to its soft and slow arrangements, listen after listen becomes more enjoyable when you can distinctly hear all the harmonies in the vocals and instrumentals.

35. Mp3: Amanda Blank - Make It, Take It

Known for her guest spots on Spank Rock's songs, Amanda Blank finally came out with a solo album. Although a bit more feminine than expected, Blank proves she has the talent to sing and spit rhymes.

34. Mp3: The Wooden Birds - Believe In Love

Although new to the indie scene, American Analog Set's frontman Andrew Kenny put together a great sound within his new band, The Wooden Birds. Magnolia, which was released on Barsuk Records, is possibly one of the most underrated albums of the year. "Believe in Love" features vocals from Kenny and member Leslie Sisson (of Western Keys).

33. Mp3: Leslie and The Badgers - Old Timers

Before I met my friend over at When You Awake, I had no idea LA had such a great indie scene for country and folk music. Leslie and The Badgers is one of the rising country artists in this metropolis and this song about growing old with someone just kills me every time.

32. Mp3: Best Coast - When I'm With You

Pocahaunted's Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno in a band together? Enough said! Along with Pearl Harbor, Best Coast has written one of the most catchy and endearing beach blanket lo-fi pop tunes of the year.

31. Mp3: Bat For Lashes - Daniel

Bat For Lashes, aka Natasha Khan, seemed to blow up more for her sophomore album, Two Suns, than for her great debut album, Fur and Gold. You can't blame everyone though. Songs like "Daniel" wouldn't sound as perfect without her voice.

That's only the second out of five batches of songs I'll be providing as part of my Top 50 Songs of 2009. You can individually download tracks by clicking on the song titles or download all ten at once by going here.

Check back tomorrow for numbers, 30 - 21!
