Fol Chen: In Ruins

Although Fol Chen may seem mysterious in who they are when it comes to photos for the media, the band is up, close and personal when it comes to performing live. My first opportunity to catch Fol Chen live was random, but the memory I took home with me last year was stored away and organized in the "band on the rise" section in  my head. (The fact that they shamelessly offered a live cover of Mariah Carey's "Emotions" also didn't hurt.)

With their breakout and infectious single, "Cable TV" (from debut album, Part I: John Shade, Your Fortune's Made), they did rise to some critical acclaim they deserved. They are currently on tour with Liars and are about to release their sophomore effort, Part II: The New December, which is slated for release on July 6.

You can take a listen to their new track, "In Ruins," below. It has the familiar touches of melodramatic lyrics and electro bits of funk. Kárin Tatoyan provides lead vocals on this one.
